bass solo's

since writing bass lines is my weakness i've been using bass lines as my main sample and building around it. I've never been much into looping until now and i'm loving the last 5- 10 beats i've made using this process.

What bass players do you guys check for?

Any dope comps?

Thoughts?

not bass players but i choose jazz from the 40's great bassist on there,lots of open samples.
theres too many to choose from.

Yeah me neither. I think the oldest jazz I got is 50's/60's.

Don't only use basslines as basslines.

I'd check for Genres rather than Artists. Of course you can listen to some Bassists Solo LPs since they are more focused on the Artist.. Jaco perhaps?

My fav bass genres are : Funk, Jazzfusion/Freejazz(YES!) & Psych.
Open your mind! Also, ask your vinylspot if they got instruction Lps..

I kid you not! Those LPs often contain imense sampleheat or atleast ish that will get you new ideas and inspire you to try new stuff...
(often they also include notation & comments to make it possible for you to follow the music)
