thats pretty much all i use right now, i dont need a need for a computer unless it gives my stuff a good sound, but the reason why i dont invest in a computer is because i see alot of people with computers in their production and it doesnt sound right...i dunno why, im old skool so i like doing things the hard way, and i take pride in the techniques i use becasue they are old and require skills.

u got everything u need

download/buy/record whatever .wav files u want

thats a sample

u can use any sound thats in the .wav format with your drum machine as a sample and assign it to one of the pads

wich im sure u already knew

thats all i do

u can also just cut sounds out of songs using some .wav editing software

you can edit any sample

you can use any sample you like to get the desired sound your looking for by editing it in some .wav editing software

get a computer dude

it will be a major upgrade for you and most likely make the mpc1k and the computer your main workstation

They hold up fine...as long as you don't drop em. I've realized over the years that a mix of software and hardware is the way to go.

nice stuff!

i see you have that studio projects vtb-1 preamp there.. that thing is straight
amazing! it's got that good tube warmth with a reasonable price - one of the
best purchases i've made.

solah, the major benefit for me was more tracks. Alot of my beats have over 12 tracks(12 sounds) in them. If you have a multitrack software program synced up to the mpc1000 by midi, then you are good to go. Say you do have 12 sounds but only 6 outputs. You assign each sound to a different output. Then you mute the second 6 tracks/sounds. You then click record in the software and now you have the first 6 sounds. You mute those ones, and then do another 6 tracks. There is a fullbeat. Now you have editing capabilities, mixing capabilites, effects, and a whole lot more.

This all can be possible if you have and interface with 6 or more inputs.
if you got any questions just ask me.

nah, fam. you good for right now. you got the 1k and the micro korg. and i see you with the ipod there.... the next thing you should get (if you don't already have them, i didn't see it in the pic) is some good monitors then a computer. and obviously something to track it with (ie. cubase, or whatever) cubase LE goes for around $99. take your time. learn what you got then build. you can do alot with that micro korg.

That's a decent set-up...don't stress it.
