changed int.floppy to int.zip->SLOOOW BOOT.Why?

I recently changed my floppy to a 100 mb internal zip. Now the "wait..."-screen takes about 1-2 minutes to go away and show "detecting memory..." and after 5 secs. it goes back to "wait..." for about 30 secs.
then the machine is as normal as before the change. I followed the instructions on the "tricks"pages on this site.
Before I had a SCSI-zip with no problems. My OS is the 1.14 version
Anyone have a soloution?

Iz the XL really that slow? I was thinkin bout coppin the New Color XL that has the 100mb zip installed that b*tch comes out in Jan. '04 but if it's that damn slow Naw I will just stick with thw MPC 1000 that will be here on Monday! XL users let me know if it's really that slow GoNe!@#$

I dont know bout any body else, but my MP boots up fine with the internal zip. 5 secs and im ready to go.

Do you have the jumper on the correct switch in back of the device?
Is your ZIP disk formatted, what method was used to format it?
Re-install your OS, or maybe try the 1.14c OS.

I Formatted all my zips in the mpc. First I tried to do it on the pc, but the mpc showed "disctype: ?????", so I thought it should be done in the mpc, where it then showed: "disctype:mpc".
The jumper is set to "master", and my OS is 1.14. Where do I get the 1.14c??

That OS would only apply to 250 Meg ATAPI zip problems.

I have the 1.14 OS as well, and I'm pretty sure that the jumper is in the master position. At least, I checked that before installing the drive, unless I got it mixed up. One thing that I just thought of is that the IDE cable that I used to connect the drive to the motherboard had two connectors on it. I can't remember which one I used. Does it matter which connector you use on the IDE cable? You don't need to terminate an IDE cable the way you do a SCSI cable, do you?

Try making the drive SINGLE, or MASTER w/no slave present. Try different settings with the jumpers. I've had a couple of drives (all Iomega 100 and 250 zips treat me differently so I just tried all possibilities with the jumpers until one worked, I don't know why) Next if you wanna use your ZIP for PC transfers then format the ZIP in the PC using FAT16 and use filenames on the ZIP no longer than 8 characters, otherwise you will have problems. If you format in MPC then NO windows can read it PERIOD. Like 3k said, 1.14c is for 250 so don't load it if you are trying to use 100. If you wanna take that chance then that's on you... Oh, and check this site and you can find 1.14c or check the link below.

my zip is a 100, so i´ll stick with vers.1.14
