Well the triton series has a strong reputation, I've played with the
Triton X-PRO and it's cold for whatever music style you choose. The Motif I've only fiddled with at the store a couple times but that's a banger. If any keyboard has the potential to knock Triton out the box it's the Yamaha motif, either one the keyboard or the rack module. Roland's XP-60 or XP-80. Solid instruments for hip hop and RnB styles of music. I can't think of anymore solid units right now but everyone of the boards I mentioned in this post are worth every nickle. Another thing worth checking into is purchasing modules. Just as with rack versions of the Triton and so forth modules usually have additional expansion slots for future expansions/upgrades. My advice, whatever piece of equipment you pick up always consider how it will fit into your long term equipment set up/growth. Meaning you don't want to pick up 4 or 5 things and wind up spending $$$$ on some shit you could've got in one unit. Always plan ahead!

If you wanna sound like everyone else has for the past 6-8 years, go get yourself a triton. I gurantee you, if you don't own a keyboard already, you will be using stock sounds out of this thing, which are PLAYED OUT, regardless of por-x upgrade or whatever. They're played. Even people who don't know about music will recognize those sounds. If that's what you are looking for, then get a korg. Korg does make amazing engines on thier synths, but you really gotta edit them hard to make them anything special.
On a budget, I like the emu Mo Phatt, also heavily used, but nowhere near the korg. Also, not as editable tho' Cost is about 600 brand nizzew.
And, if you get a module, like the 1 space rack units from emu (proteus 2000, planet phatt, etc) you will need a contoller.
Motif from Yamaha is great, but you really gotta know what your doing to take advantage of it, due to a steep learning curve. The JX from roland is hot, but not in production, so find it used. If you buy what everyone else has, you will sound like everyone else. I feel the triton ruined hip-hop and r&b music for a good 6 years, cus every dude who saw one and had a homeboy who sold drugs was like "yo, everyone told me to buy one, and I can be a producer". And yo, joke is on them, cus the base set of 127 sounds in any synth is all the same: general midi. And on the trinity and triton, alot of those standard sounds are thrown into the other banks as well. Plus, people ain't really feelin that sound anyore. But, go ahead and get what everyone else got, cus then my joints will stand out over yours.
Be original, and put some flavor back in the game, dog.

THAT WOULD MEAN I WOULD HAVE TO SAMPLES EVERYTHING IN TO THE MPC AND SET THE TEMPO OF THE SAMPLES TO GET IT CORRECT..

It does have MIDI in, out, and thru. It does not have an internal sequencer, but that is what the MPC is for, right.
