I can't answer that, I don;t know, but once you find where it's supposed to go we can try and find someone to open up and see where they go.

Don't have an MKII otherwise I took a picture and your problem would be solved.

Without the picture:

Unscrew the 4 screws. Youre El foil has two zilver wires stikking out. These are soldered on the print. Follow the copper on the print and you know where youre lose wires must be fitted.

My guess is that the two copper squares at the right of the picture are the connections.

yup, 9 lifes got it. follow the copper traces.

Yo man, I got a soldering iron at walmart for $5, and the solder core for $2.

I repaired my Zoom Sampletrak that way, with zero electronics experience. Came out perfect, no issues at all.

Cop that cheap soldering iron, and then be ghetto and return it for a refund. On some "it didnt work".

That's what I did!

The leads are ripped out of the backlight. I suggest getting a new backlight from telesisgear.com and installing it. Just for future reference... you don't have to remove the metal frame that holds the display to the PCB. Be careful when you reinstall that so you don't crack your display.

ok, i'm still waiting on pics of a working unit so i can see these 'leads' you guys are referring to. this was working perfectly before i opened it up. i'm hesitant to jump the gun and buy a whole new backlight (which is what, exactly? how many pieces?) if i don't really need one.

thanks for your input, mike, but could you maybe explain the pieces that make up the backlight and what i need to order, specifically, to fix this problem?

thanks, again.

I don't have a 60 open right now but here is a S950 (same idea)

As you can see the leads on your wire have been ripped from the backlight. The backlight just slips right in under your display. I think repairing this would not really be worth it. I would just order a new backlight ($40 shipped in USA) or send the display out and have it repaired since you have it disassembled anyway. telesis sells the backlights and they also do the repair but the prices are a little high. If you feel you don't want to get into this, I do tech work and you can send it to me. I am confident that you can do the install so maybe we can walk you through it. If not we can discuss your other options. We'll get you straight don't worry.

mikedean to the rescue! Sweet.

now I have a question, so the wire from the inverter board solders directly to the backlight leads? or did homie tear of the circuit traces where the backlight leads attatch too? on the MK I and 3000 the backlight solders to traces and wouldn't be able to rip out the backlight leads without the tracces going as well.

Don;t let that scare you HL, you can solder the wire directly to the backlight so you don't lose anything if this scenario is the case.

I know on the 3000 there are pads on the PCB where the leads are soldered on one side and the wire going to the interver are soldered on the other. The 60 is probably the same way. I have done MkII's before but it has been a while. Sometimes when people replace their backlights they solder the inverter wires directly to the leads on the backlight. This method does not provide any stress relief and after a while the leads will work themselves out or you open up the MPC and they rip out. Also the solder joints may not be the best in the world and they will lift right up off the PCB pads. The telesis lights usually come with foil leads so you can trim them to length and solder them down to the PCB then solder your inverter wires on top of the foil leads. I will take pictures when I install my backlight in my 60. Should be early next week.
