Recording track mutes...?

I've searched the forum and peeped the manual but haven't found the answer to my question. Is it possible to record track mutes in a sequence or in song mode or any other way?

Not as such. The answer lies in using song mode and multiple copies of your sequence(s).




(Use 'AND' inbetween the words you want to pull up when searching. This will display only the threads that contain each of the words you search for. eg. 'record AND track AND mute')

It sucks that I just cant hit mute track while recording in a sequence... Would have been alot easier than having to erase everything I want to mute.

highlight the Trk:On (or whatever it says) and press OPEN WINDOW and it will open up the Track Mute Screen.

if you wanna do it on the fly, just press record on whatever you record into and just mute whichever tracks you want. each pad corresponds to a track.

you wont be able to lay out the sequences in the order you want, but you can switch to which ever one you want while its playing. so you can still build a song this way.

Well thats one way of doing it. Another way is to make multiple copies of the same sequence and simply mute the tracks that you don't want to play in each copy. Then arrange the sequences in song mode so they play in the order you want.

Things start to get a bit more tricky when you want to mute sounds before the sequence ends, or if you want to mute/unmute tracks multiple times within one sequence repetition, but its still possible on the mpc, just not as simple as I have explained.

how do you undo or erase the automation?

Make copies of your main seq.

Mute whatever tracks u want in the copies.

Chain the different seq's together in song mode.

There is no internal recording of track mutes.

everyone's suggestions works but what i found works best for me is to arrange all of my seqs in song mode then go back and press record, when it gets to the point that i want muted or solo'd i would press the desired pad(s) and press erase (while recording).

This is what I want to do, just kill the drums or base at the end and beginning of the sequence. For the moment I have all my drum sounds in track1, base in track2, and samples track 3 & 4. I'm guessing it's only possible to mute a track within a whole sequence and not for a short section of a sequence?

The way I do it now is just hold earse for every drums sound and have multiple copies of the same sequence, but is it possible to erase everything within a track since I have all my drums(or base) in the same? It would atleast make the erasing part faster...

you can do that on the track mute screen really easy since you have all your drums on one track. hit one pad and they'll stop until you unmute it!

I think the guy knows this by now. If your recording to an external recorder in 'realtime' then you can do this, but you cannot record this data into a sequence, which is what he wants to do.

I want everything recorded in my sequencer because if I need to record the beat into my pc again I just want to press play and rec. Because if I mute something wrong I'll have to do it all over again.

That is the exact reason why I program my mutes.

Nothing is left to chance.

yes i understand thats what he wants to do. someone explained that he will have to copy his sequences and erase what he dosnt want.

Then why re-state the obvious? Anyway... So what would you do if you had a 4 bar sequence, and wanted the first 2 bars to have a hi-hat track playing, with the second 2 bars having no hats? How would you get that result? (remember he wants to record this into the sequencer)
