Expect nothing.

You can expect your 60 not to crash, but expect nothing but what you have in front of you. If you need other features to do what you need to do then look into other gear, but you barely know the 60, trust me I know more about the 60 than most people here and i still stumple on new thigns I didn't know it could do. You need to stop watching the joneses and just get on with making music.

Me and my boy were just having a conversation a few days ago about how when something is not listed as a particular feature or in the manual of a piece of gear people automatically assume that it can't be done. It's probably best to imagine what you want to do musically then look in the manual and if not there experiment on your own to get done what you need done. I know you can't do everything inside of just a 60 but it's rock solid and theres not another piece I'd rather build my studio around.

All I want is to have the sampling engine of the S950, with its filtering attributes and non-linear sample rates, and the intuitive ease, midi sequencing power and pad layout of the 60. Basically, I want to rip out the guts of the 60 and replace them with the 950.

It seems so easy 4 us to envision the perfect beat machine so why can't a manufacturer make those dreams reality. This is obviously a rhetorical question but not an impossible task. All the technology is available to us it's just a matter of putting it in2 1 cohesive unit. The blueprint has been written. I know that ppl will say that no 1 can design a machine 4 every1 but it seems like there r many features that the buying public can agree on. This is why we r still using older technology b/c it has a build, layout and sound that is superior 2 newer machines. Just a thought. Thanks 4 listening. -uno-

Why?? Because for everyone that states they want the older technology in gear, there are one or more that want newer technology. At one time, analog was king and nobody wanted to mess with digital. Now everybody is using digital for recording. Some feel the older stuff sounds better..other don't. The same holds true with the newer stuff.

profit margins

making a perfect machine that would never need replacement would minimize profit....

as for build quality it just gets worse and worse as OEMs (original equipment manufacturors) try to minimize the cost of parts (BOM cost)

generally: list price = 4x BOM cost

so if it costs $500 for the parts the list is $2k

Also remember how much the build quality of the 60 cost back then. They are worth in parts much more than they are worth in dollars today, and much more than goes into the hardware of the modern machines.

The modern machines put the money elsewhere, but it is less money than went into the older stuff relatively.

Welcome to progress.
