When You Use Drum Sounds Do You Use Them In Stereo Or Mono

I Usually Have All My Drums In Stereo... I Was Wondering How Does Everybody Else Have Their Drums On Their Tracks... And Why? That's The Key Questions - WHY?

bass drum mono- keep it equal on both sides

snare drums mono- no need to waste a second track

hats mono- ditto, although sometimes i want a wider stereo image.

percussion stereo- good stereo image

It depends...I will do both depending on my mood...whatever sounds right for that particular beat.

But yeah, mono. Gives a more focused sound on many things, I'll just pan things myself on the desk. Occasionaly I sample 'wide' sounds like pads in stereo. So mono by default, stereo only when really needed.

I do everything in mono just cause all my plugs are mono

mono. but ocassionally double tracks up and hard pan 1 left, 1 right.

drums mono, percussion stereo. of course, i sample virtually everything in mono into my mpc and recreate a stereo image later. i've made a practice of doing this due to polyphony but should get back in the practice of sampling stereo percussions....

Usually mono.
But depends on the record.

If the record has the drums panned all the way to one side, obviously I'd just sample the one side - mono.

If the record has the drums centered, and they already sound focused, but with a nice stereo ambience, I might take it in stereo. (not often though)

what if you are using a loop that has elements of both? IE Bass/Snare/Hats
+ Percussion

mono...

I like to take my samples in stereo so i can choose whats best for the track.

i used to use both stereo and mono but nowadays always mono, only cuz it gives me more routing options

what u mean more routing options... Does everybody use mono for a specific reason and why or u guys just do it just to do it... cause u think thats the way its supposed to be cause thats how they used to do it back in the day....
