Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

whats up. im new and got a problem i was hopeing someone could help with. i bought a mpc2000 of ebay.( mistake) everything was good exept when i checked the memory it says
0k snd
592seq.
ok. so i opened it up and saw a chip in it so i decided to replace it and put 2 16mb chips in now it still says the same thing. emailed akai support and am waiting does anyone have any idea whats up before i bring it in to get fixed (rogue for my nyc heads). thanks ahead

Is the RAM seated correctly, try installing one at a time and/or switching them around. How to check how much RAM is installed is in the book, that's a better way to check.

I have seen this before.

There is memory that is just incompatible enough to disable the onboard 2 meg but not allow access to the installed 32 Meg.

If you remove the 32 meg and the MPC shows 2 meg free then the MPC is OK. Just keep trying different brands until a set works.
