I'm a stupid newb, and I have a question

I'm finally looking into an MPC, but I'll admit I've never used a sampler and I have a question regarding instruments.

For people that are using the MPC as their main production tool, where do you get all your instrument sounds (strings, synths, bells, etc.). Are you sampling those too, or do you use a keyboard along side the MPC to give you your instruments?

For instance, let's say I want to produce a Lil Jon style track. I have a nice lil drum kit sampled and put together...but now it's time to add the instruments. The strings, the edgy synths, the bells, etc. I guess these are called multisamples? Anyway, where is the best place to get those? Should I sample them, or do most people use a keyboard along side the MPC, such as a Korg Triton, to give you your instrument sounds???

This has always confused me.

Lil john uses a keyboard. People like Just Blaze sample strings he also uses modules. Madlib samples all his instruments from record I think. Some people use sample cd's. You can do whatever u want. I like strings from record as well as from keyboards. Record strings give it a super grity feel. Its realy personal preference. Play around with all types and see which u like the best

Yeah, I know about that site. But from the demos I've downloaded from there, I am less than impressed with the instrument packages. Not exactly the style I'm looking for. I'm looking for more dirty south rap, instrument heavy style, so I think I'll stick with a keyboard for that.

Use a keyboard with your MPC...use your MPC for sequencing and doing your drum loops, (as well as messing with your sampled melodioes) and use your keyboard for the sounds your referring to...(strings, synth, bells) I'm out, peace...

Well then why don't you layer the sounds and see what you come up with.
You might not find HOT samples right off the bat, but u still might have all the ingredients. Layer them and come up with something.
