Instead of clicking around, wheel around and mess with the start/end/length and you will find your loop points, do all of this in TRIM/LOOP, while your there, hit OPEN WINDOW on different things to see submenus.

I think he means to have the loop fit the sequence? What I do on my MPC 2000 is I trigger the loop, and start changing the sequence tempo around a ballpark figure of what I think it is... then I tune the sample by small increments to make it fit... it's harder for most this way but that's the way I learned when I taught myself... there's a way to do a tap tempo but since I never really do it that way I can't really tell you much about it, hope it helps?

my method, which will sound complicated due to my lack of good transcription skills....

first i use the loop function in the edit screen and get the sound looping as nicely as i can without actually putting it in my sequence (n.b i dont set the start point properly at this time, just the loop point and the end point).

Then i turn loop function off, record it into my sequence and mess with the tempo a bit (like my man said earlier). If you have a gap where the sound loops then you need to increase the tempo, if it sounds like it's looping early you need to decrease the tempo...simple really.

Then fine tuning (the most important bit). Get rid of clicks by changing your start and end points, then you will probably need to change the tempo again.

you can also set envelopes so that your start and end points overlap more smoothly and also you can rock loops with the loop function set to 'on' ... this way you can have a slightly different start point to your loop point

IMPORTANT ... the loop must 'fall' properly at the start, ... i.e don't cut off the beginning of the first kick, or first hit of the loop or you will have trouble fitting your rhythm over it.

Keep your head nodding whilst doing it or no one else's heads will nod...

i cannot explain things properly...just experiment yo.

Werd, make sure your head nods, I forgot that in mine, I was trying to keep it secret. My head shakes like Michael J. Fox saying no I don't need a new benz... then I know the beat is dope... if it doesn't nod I usually don't save it, unless it sounds really wack.... really wack music makes all the BIG Money...
