using different filters for different layers??

Is it possible to use different filters for different layers.I know u can change the filter depth for each layer n the start point of applying the filter but can u use a different one for each layer..also can you copy the setting for each layer onto different pads..coz im tryin to use the exact same kick drum on different pads with it tuned down a bit.is this done alot??

You only have one keygroup aka C1Low to C1H in drum programs so you can use only one filter type. All the filter settings in zone is relative. Either use a keygroup program and layer the keygroups with different filters or the easiest way is to just resample the kick with different filter settings and then place the filtered kicks in the different zones.

I suggest to buy the MPC tutors beat making on the MPC2000XL guide to the right of the screen. Lots of good information in there.

i usually use 2 maybe 3 kik drumz. first one is the one u hear, second one is a diffierent kik filtered down to 0. tweek just enuff to make the kik drum thump (or sound punchy as most of you might say). but u gotta blend them to sound right with each other. the third is usually a 808.

It sounds as if your processing sounds more than making music. I do this often when I want to create something new. Save yourself the time and do this when you have a mental block. Save the sound (once you create it) and make a kit with all your new and unusual drum sounds. If you save that specially made kick as a sample (all three kicks, filtering, etc), then the next time you need it, you won't have to go through all that trouble of recreating it while trying to produce a song.

its works for me either way. thats the hole point of have filters n sh!t. to process. nothing wrong with processing while in the making. everytime i start a beat i like to start brand new

sometimes you might wanna tweak that filtering & layering process midway thru a beat so i tend not to resample, also i've yet to run out of space in a program to make it a neccesity so i just leave pads triggering pads
