Logic Pro/Motu 828/MPC2500

I've just added a 2500 (arrived yesterday) to my Logic Pro/828 (MK2) setup. Only had a few hours to play with it but it's real nice and easy to get some beats down and I can see the MPC being a real joy to use.

Got the midi sync working fine using MTC (MPC as slave, Logic as Master) but have a couple of questions related to recording the MPC's output in Logic as I'm new to hardware.

I've got the MPC hooked up to Analog 1 on the 828 (rightly or wrongly?). In Logic when I record nothing gets recorded. There's nothing showing on the input meters for the track (tried it set as input 1 and track 1) yet Logic is controlling start/stop on the MPC as it should.

So what I want to know is:
The correct way to hook the MPC up to the 828
Setting up Logic for recording the MPC's output via the 828

inputs 1 & 2 on the 828 are the mic inputs, i think.

I could be wrong, because i sold mine a couple of months back

I THINK the mpc 2500 had TOSLINK, so you could do all the tracks digitally i think. is it the motu 828 mkII?

anyhoo. the tracks are **** stupid.

mic 1 is track 1
mic 2 is track 2
line 1 is track 3

the outputs are pretty complex aswell, i think 1 and 2 are master out.

EDIT: it does not have toslink, so analog outputs are the way to go, or you could SPDIF each stereo track individually

The inputs I'm using (on the 828 mkII) are labelled analog 1 and 2 on the back of the device. They take 1/4" jacks. There are separate mic/guitar inputs on the front which take either 1/4" or XLRs. I'll have to pick up a cable to try the SP/DIF but in the meantime I'll give analog 3+4 a go.

Like I said the sound plays through OK (and syncing works a treat) and the meters on the Motu Firewire console software show activity but I'm getting nada in Logic when I try recording.

have you set logic to use the interface?

and have you set the channels inputs?

Setting the track inputs to 3 & 4 for Analog 1 & 2 works a treat. Many thanks.
