Anymore Compatible Hard Drives for the 25 ?

Aside from the 5 HDs listed on the akai website does anyone know of any others that work with the 25? I'm having trouble finding the hitachi 80 gig HD.

I put a 40 gig Hitachi into the MPC but it dont work. It comes on sometimes and then other times dosn't show up..

Damn that sucks.

from what i understand, any toshiba 2.5" drive will work.

I know everyone is trying to cut corners or save as much as possible...but why waste time, energy, and money. I spent $100 buying a CD-Rom drive that doesn't work in the 2500..only to spend $200 on a drive that works But buying the cheaper memory..I had no problem...but I did switch to the more expensive Akai Ram for beta testing purposes

the toshiba 40gig 2.5 works lovely .i got mine for $25 on ebay

You can get the Toshiba drive on eBay for nearly nothing. But, usually no warranty is provided. You will have to decide if $50 in savings is worth it.

Damn, I tried 2 Toshiba 40 gig drives and they didnt work, I even tried a 40 gig Fuji drive that didn't work. Keep in mind none of them were on the list on Akai's site.
I just bought a new drive from the list and I hope it works. I'm starting to think that my MPC is having a problem. I hope not.

Ok, I installed a Fujitsu 40 gig drive and a 6 Gig Hitachi travelstar and both worked.

The problem I had was the first 40 gig travelstar was bad, then it messed up the OS.

I rebooted holding down the erase button (akai rep told me to try that) and it worked. All 3 worked after that.

Things are good now. So I found 3 Hard drives out of the list that work.

Just picked up a Samsung, 5400rpm, 8mb cache, 40g, MP0402H
Cost £40 from PC World (UK) on special offer right now. Works fine.
