according to jahrome, you can't use a third party drive. he's tried.

I just haven't been sucessful getting a 3rd party drive to work. I gave up and just purchased the Akai drive.

The DVD-M25 Akai is releasing next Spring for the 2500 supports the Blue Ray format. You will be able to burn up to 25 gig on standard Blue Ray disk I was told from a very reliable source that the MPC 2500 will have an OS update by Christmas and a major OS update in April 06.
