i was just informed of this today.

I wonder - would it be possible to use a third party drive?
Is ist a standart pc connection.
Could something like this work?
SAMSUNG DVD-CDR-LW 16/48/IDE/int./DVD-RAM /512KB Buffer/110mS

What is the data of the AKAI drive?

according to jahrome, you can't use a third party drive. he's tried.

I just haven't been sucessful getting a 3rd party drive to work. I gave up and just purchased the Akai drive.

can it brun cds or dvds or just cd or read cdrs and dvds??
how about burn cds and read dvds can it read cdrs and regular cds ??
Is it possible for it to read dvd roms or can it just read cds ?
when the next OS comes out will it be able to read cds and cdrs
is is possible for any MPC to read cds and cdrs whats the diffeance between an mpc and a radio? I was thinking about buying a radio but then I saw an mpc at my friends house and thought it looked cool....

The DVD-M25 Akai is releasing next Spring for the 2500 supports the Blue Ray format. You will be able to burn up to 25 gig on standard Blue Ray disk :shock: I was told from a very reliable source that the MPC 2500 will have an OS update by Christmas and a major OS update in April 06.
