Chopping A Sample Using Velocity

I am in the process of getting a MPC 2500, was wonder to any of you user out there if the following way of chopping can be done in the MPC 2500? I I have been chopping my samples this way in my MPC 3000 and 2000XL..does this apply to the MPC 2500?

Put a long sample on a pad. Then go to the parameters page and set the overlap to MONO. Highlight the ATTACK or DECAY value and hit Open Window. Make these settings:
Attack: 0
Start: 100
Level: 0
Go to the main screen and set the 16 levels to velocity using the pads you just programmed it Chops the sample automatically, but not accurately. Adjusting the Levels Field mentioned above sets the start point of sample. Tapping pads in order 1 to 16 sounds like sample is rewinding. Results vary depending on the sample……but it’s worth checking out.

If the 2500 has params, 16 levels features then I think it will work the exact same way don't u thimk?

chop shop is a more acurate way of doing things though.

I would think if all the params are there it would work..Just thinking, that the could have fixed a bug in the new machine/OS?

The good thing is that you dont have to assign the hi hat type mute which only lets you cut off 2 samples(which is actually wack, and time consuming)

im trying to understand what you re trying to say but im lost?
id like to know how you do that and if its possible with the mpc4000

yea im trying to picture it on the 2000. would it work on that, too?

NOt to KNOCK THE Old way man. I have a 2kXL i love it and i decided to get rid of my fantom x6 for a while just to keep my 2kXL even though i got my 2500. I am just saying if it save me a little time chopping samples that is cool. Remember i have been chopping samples the hard way for years. I am just excited that akai is getting withe the times. I got respect for the ol skool dawg.

I would think that it works on the 2000, cause I have chopped samples up this way on the 3000 and the 2000xl. As for the 4000, I never got that deep into it cause I dont own one...Messed around with a little bit in the Studio, but that is it.

I used to chop samples the old way..piece for piece until I found this trick out..been smoove sailing ever since!!

when I got the 2000xl, i couldn't get with the individual slicing function..more trouble than it was worth..Seemed just as bad as doing it the old school way!!

This way of chopping is just quick. basically program screen set the start to 100 and press the 16 level button, turn to velocity..DONE
Sampled chopped on all 16 pads plus the sounds cut each other off when what ever 16 pad you hit...You dont even have to assign the pads to cut each other off like in the mute section where you only have the option to make one pad cut off 2 other pads (Sucks)

Just want to see if this can be done in the 2500..dont know if they fixed a bug with the new machine/OS.

I agree!!!!!! with you..Akai is slowly steppin up there game, and trying to give an old dawg some new add toys to an already exsisting, comfortable interface.
