ive had this thing for about 15 minutes... first thing i did was install the ram i got ahead of time for it (3rd party Kingston i believe, it was that and 'another brand or equal' when i ordered it but i asked for kingston if they had it, works fine)

im just sittin here messin with the factory sounds. my mind is blown, im amazed already, this is truly a beautiful machine. its built very well, nice metal construction to it. and note repeat on its own button, wtf, its wonderful! i was messing with my own sequence just trying things out, it has a very live feel to it, you can get stuff down with variations on the fly in single takes for each instrument if desired. 5/5 in my book! this beast will be my studio centerpiece forever!

I as well just got my 2500. Whew this machine is the shizznot. All the extra features are awesome compared to my 2kXL. I love my 2000XL but this thing has everything that it doesn't. yes it is well built and i so far like the feel. ONly been playing around on it for an hour. But i notice the difference from my other mpc. It has a more solid feel in construction and in the way it operates(sequencer and such). I will report later tonight when I really get to dig deep into this machine. Hope it lives up to my expectations. So far so good

yes i notice that as well in the sequencer... compared to the 1000 i had awhile ago, when you see the 2500 playing back, it seems like its a lot smoother on the frame digits rolling by (001.00.XX)

The only complaint I have, as far as construction, is that the bottom of the 2500 is not very solid. The metal they use for the bottom is kind of flimsy compared to the MPC 2000. Oh..lets not forget the data wheel. Akai cut corners on that wheel. The MPC 2500 deserves more than that cheap peace of plastic.

Yeah i am not going to try to use mine that much so it will last a while. it feels less strurdy then my mpc i have had for 3 years with everyday use. And that is only using the data wheel. they went cheap on the wheel.

Do any of you think that the 2500's wheel can be replaced with the mechanism from the xl? The wheel on my brother's xl broke and he ordered another from VST and he fixed really quick. Feels good as new now.

best mpc jog wheel IMO....the classic 2000. felt the best, had the finger groove, and the outside ring. felt sturdy to me as well. after that....the 4000 wheel, after that...a toss up between the 3000 lil knob and the 2000xl. i love the 2500 as a machine but hate that lil clikkityclak wheel. might as well be listening to tap dancing.

The digit and data wheels on the mpc2000 classic is the best, one of the reasons whyI haven't upgraded it yet but the 2500 is tempting me!

Curiousity killed the cat but I will bite anyway I am curious to know the other reasons besides the digit/data wheel.
