Share your knowledge on these two classic MPCs

so I rolled by 2wices crib today, scooped up an Akai MG614 from him...why did he have two of these at his crib haha!....and I'll be laying my stuff to tape from now on, just thought I'd share

any tips on what kind of tapes to get to record to? any from wal mart good enough?.....off to the wonderful world of google to try and find a manual

ampex makes(or made) cassette tapes! i found a box of em at the swapmeet before... try and find some of these if your picky like that, otherwise use the cheapest you can find... as high bias as possible of course...

ImageI've tried these, they sound pretty good but I wouldn't say theyr'e too much different than any good tape from Wal-Mart, Bestbuy, etc... could be it's just hard to hear a difference because I'm using dusty records and 12bit samplers. :lol:

Perhaps Pete rock, Primo, Madlib etc werent able to buy hi quality tapes so they said '**** it, ill just use this crappy 10 second 12bit sampler..'

i got the bigger brother to that, the mg 1214...
i Love it, it uses special tapes though that are a bit rare these days.
Tho i dont even record to tape usually, i just use it as my mpc mixer

its so huge, its awsome!

wow, that looks dope. Thats all I do , lay sh*t to tape. The knobs and faders are the sh*t. I love my tascam, but thats hot
