I'm new here. I work with the MPC 2000 and recently, the operating systems disk just died. The screen was just saying "disk read error".

I got on the web to AKAI's website, downloaded the systems disk onto a floppy, thought I was doing everything ok, but when I placed the disk into the MPC, it read "no file on disk". Now when I place the disk back into the computer, my pc tells me that a MPC 2000 operating file is on the disk.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there something wrong with my MPC? Is there another way I can get the operating system file?

In dire need

You must use a PC formatted FAT16 disk in order for the MPC to be able to read it. Try using the IOMEGAWARE utility to format the disk and try again..

"Try using the IOMEGAWARE utility to format the disk "

On the floppy????? Are you sure?

It is pretty simple, extract the Zip files directly to a new formatted floppy. Do not first extract to your HD.

:D :D :D :D :D Like above, download OS to disk and then load on MPC, you should not have any probs.
