750MB internal zip ?

can you put a 750MB internal zip into a 2000xl SE1 ?

Yes, same as you would a 250 or 100 atapi.

I'd go with 1.14 OS.

Is it going to cause the same problems a 250 is though? I replaced my 100 with a 250 and am forever getting "Error at 0000:BFF2". I have to reboot several times before I can load or save.

I did some searching and it seems nobody has come up with a solution here.

This question is for mine as well as Blake Houston's benefit. It's good to know of the risks and anyone's experience/solutions.

I've never had any problems with my 250, had it installed for about 2 yrs. now

what function are you using when it does that?

It does it upon boot and several times when I go into the load screen. After a few boots, it's all good and I can load and save. Next time I turn it on though...

Seems after a search, a lot of people here have had the same problem without a fix. Software upgrade doesn't help as far as I know. I tried changing the OS to not look up the Atapi Drive upon boot and I thought it had cleared itself up when it booted, but it was too good to be true, did the same thing next time round.

Apologies if I'm seen to be hijacking the original thread point but I think it's relevant to both of us!

I took out my floppy a while back and replaced with a 250 internal, I have it for years and never had a problem with it. I've hepled a few people put 750's in their machines and they never had any problems with it.

Maybe you should change to a fresh zip disk.
Maybe you should reload your OS.

Thanks Lamp. Have tried other disks but same thing.

Gonna open it up and make sure everything is connected right and the jumper is set to Master (Imagine it wouldn't work otherwise would it?). I'll try reloading the OS too. Will post my results for those interested.

@Maxlifo: The error you're describing there happened to me b4 as well (exact same error numer and everything), it turned out it was my internal zipdrive (250 MB) dying on me, no reload of OS or anything would solve the problem. I ripped out the piece of shit and replaced it with an internal cardreader and my problem was solved. Reinstalling the os is very seldom a solution for this kind of problem.

Isn't the internal flash ROM only 8 mb?
CF reader can use WAY bigger cards.

Try Os 1.14C. It was an interim "service center" OS released specifically for Zip250's.

When I had my 250mb internal zip I tried c before and it kept freezing on me, that was the reason why I suggested the 1.14. Just my exper though.

I had OS 1.2 on mine with a Zip 250 that I previously installed and had no problem.
But I'm still glad I switched to a card reader.
