punch feel lost in cubase

i'm using cubaes se with my triton and mpc. if i use the seq in the mpc to make songs and then play it back through the monitors, everything sounds good ( i'm mainly talking my drums here). they have the punchy feel they supposed to have. when i'm using cubase and i'm sequencing, none of my drums have that punch anymore. all my drums sound nasty in cubase. i use a audiophile usb as my soundcard does anyone know what the problem is? am i going to need some kind of external amp to boost my drums and bass

r u trigering via midi or recording into cubase. i think you might need to investigation your recording settings, maybe play with the levels until u get it sounding nice.

no this is straight recording into cubase. any other instrument i use sounds like it's supposed to. just my drums and bass sound real weak. i thought that the signal going into the mixer was too low so when i try to raise the level on the mixer before (it goes to cubase) it sounds good in the headphones when i'm recording but when i play back it sounds like garbage. it sounds like my speakers are blown. i messed with the eq in cubase for that track but it does nothing.

are you using softsynth instruments or external hardware synths? if it's software synths, there's a problem with your audio going in because the software synths are already on the pc, if you have hardware instruments, maybe the cables are bad? hmm....

mpc2kxl
triton le
behringer mixer
alesis monitors
audiophile usb (soundcard)
2x2 midisport

i have soft synths that i use but they sound fine too. i haven't had my equipment long but before i hooked it up to my pc i was using the mpc seq. and the le was the slave. the only difference is i had my monitors hooked up to the mixer. what i was hearing in the headphones came out the monitors with the same punch. now that i'm using the pc as my seq., my monitors have to be routed to the soundcard instead of the mixer. when i record i'll turn up the levels on the back of the montiors, also the input level of the mixer but it still comes out weak. my cables are good dog. i think i need some sort of external amp to boost my low levels.
