Basic Midi Connection Problem?

I have my midi set up with my midi out from my triton le going in to the midi in my 2000xl. When I go to midi preferences and set up my out to midi time code or time clock I goto my keyboard and try to play the sound, but I only hear sounds from my drum kits which I previously loaded on my 2000xl. My audio hookup is just a set of headphones plugged into the mpc. I have tried changing the track to midi mono and stereo but still i get no sound from my triton. Can anyone help?

Midi only carries "midi" signal no audio. There are plenty of threads on this. Look in the newbie section.

in order for you to hear sounds from your triton (I'm assuming your le operates like my studio pro) you must have the visivle midi track on the MPC set to the corresponding midi channel for the multitimberal patch in which you wish to play from the triton. (I have mine assigned 1, 2, 3 - 8 and global set to 16) you should be able to play whatever sound you have assigned to that channel from the combination screen. Hope that helps

PLUG THE HEADPHONES INTO THE TRITON SO YOU CAN HEAR IT. THEN THINK ABOUT INVESTING IN A MIXER.
AFTER YOU COP A MIXER THEN PLUG THE MPC AND TRITON INTO THE MIXER AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO.
THEN JUST PLUG THE HEADPHONES INTO THE MIXER.

USERNAME, would this also work the same way if i wanted to track my midi tracks from the mpc into my mbox? i am able to track the drums tracks in by connecting my mpc directly to my mbox, but since i have midi tracks (and no midi inputs on the mbox) would i be able to hear the tracks in which i could track out each individual track into the mbox?

yes, i know midi isn't audio, and that's why i'm trying to find a way around this so i can keep the sounds and record them as audio in pro tools.

should i connect the outputs of my mbox into my mixer? will this solve the problem? please fill me in.
