OK fellas I've been scoping the 2500 for some time now and I think its about time to buy

I only have one problem, how the hell am I supposed to get my 2000xl files over to the 2500

I've read in other posts to save as standard program and sequence files, but will this save my MIDI tracks also, I've got external sound modules being controlled by my MPC 2000xl and I dont want to lose those parts of my beats

lastly my 2000xl has a zip drive and not a compact flash, if I resave everything how will I then transfer it to the 2500 being that it doesnt have a zip drive

I'm starving for the 2500 any help is greatly appreciated

If you have a Zip drive connected to your PC as well as a compact flah reader/writer..its simple to drag and drop files between them. I have an external USB zip drive and an internal flash card drive in my computer. Its very simple to move files back and forth.

As far as the XL and the 2500...The 2500 will read the XLs programs w/ samples as well as the sequences (which is your MIDI tracks). I can't tell you exactly if your XL tracks will translate perfectly to the 2500. When I did use an MPC 2000XL, once my tracks were complete, I multi-track them into Nuendo. I don't have any XL program/sequence files to test out.

I really appreciate it

I'm gonna have to find a computer with either both a compact flash and zip or one with scsi for either or

then I'm probably gonna go to guitar center and test out the files that I newly transfer

Many of the new PCs on the market has multicard drives. Very few, if any, have Zip drives or SCSI unless you add it yourself. USB Zip drives are dirt cheap on eBay.
