I've seen some GREAT prices on a 512 mb compact flash but don't know what brand or which compact flash to buy for the MPC 1000? Holla back if any of u out there know Thanks!

compact flash is not as finicky as ram so any cf card should work. I personally buy lexar for my pda and hp cam, but simple and viking are some good ones also. Type 2 is just a bit thicker, IBM and Toshiba makes harddrives in this size.

So, both sizes fit in the 1K???? I didn´t figure that out yet.

Well the website says it does so maybe this will be the first mpc with a microdrive. (thats if the current in the cf slot can support it)

aaron_bliss I've seen 512MB compact flash the same size as the one on Musician's Friend but a different brand name SanDisk for $100 in Sunday's paper. Do u think those will work with the MPC 1000?

There is really isn't much of a difference in type one and type two. Remember Pcmcia type type I, II, and III? same concept. It's just a larger size to allow allow larger memory chips and newer uses, for example the microdrive concept is similar to when they were trying to fit hard drives and more flash memory into Pcmcia type III cards. Except for the link you posted of that card on ebay, Most type 2 Compact flash cards start off at 512MB.

MPC_Producer I don't think those Compact Flash cards will work in the MPC 1000! I think they have to be the same size as the one on the Musician's Friend site but I might be wrong. Holla back!

from the site:
"The only difference between CF Type I and CF Type II cards is the card thickness. CF Type I is 3.3 mm thick and CF Type II cards are 5mm thick. A CF Type I card will operate in a CF Type I or CF Type II slot. A CF Type II card will only fit in a CF Type II slot. The electrical interfaces are identical. CompactFlash is available in both CF Type I and CF Type II cards, though predominantly in CF Type I cards. The Microdrive is a CF Type II card. Most CF I/O cards are CF Type I, but there are some CF Type II I/O cards. "
