Midi controller for s950 and '16 levels'

I'm looking to get a midi drum pad controller for my s950. I've looked at the AKAI MPD16 and a Korg MicroKontrol. I have a midi keyboard already, but have considered getting the MicroKontrol as this has a keyboard and 16 drum pads.

A friend of mine has sung the praises of the '16 levels' feature on his MPC2000XL and I notice this is also mentioned in the spec of the MPD16. Would this be something I'd be able to do on the MicroKontrol as well?

Does anyone have any other advice for getting/using a midi controller for an s950 (I will use it with the PC as well).

Also, can anyone tell me more about latency? How will this affect me when laying down a drum beat using a midi drum pad? This surely can't be a big issue, or the drum pad would be fairly useless wouldn't it?

check out the m-audio trigger finger, they seem to be the prefered choice for what your after. it has a couple more faders on it than the mpd16.

I was thinking about a Trigger Finger, but they seem a bit tacky compared to the MPD16. Does anyone own one and have an opinion on this?

What I really want to know is if the MPD16 or Trigger Finger have anything the Korg MicroKontrol doesn't have (other than pad size etc).

I'm also looking for an explanation of '16 levels' and whether all three of these options can do it.
