sampling via SPDIF or analog? or 1200's vs. Numark/Stanton

I need a new table and have this dilemma

I could go 1200 analog outs to Maudio 1814 edit it on my computer, then to the S950/ASR/MPC

Or I could go TTX1/Str8100 SDIF out to Spdif in on 1814 to digital in on S950 or analog in on ASR/S950/MPC

what would you do? being an oldschool type head I hate the look of the new ones, but know that that is secondary if the sound will be "better" not necessarily cleaner but without the hiss and without the AD converters of the 1814

ive been told by meny that you cannot duplicate the sound of 1200's and being a dj i find this absolutly true. numarks sounds okay through the digital and analog ins, stanton have a different sound. it doesnt sound as rich or full as the 1200s sound. i suggest you get 1200's make sure your m audio got a grounding post. if not your going to need either a cheap dj mixer or a phono preamp. gyeah.

couldn't I just tie that ground down to a screw somewhere? like on one of my rack ears or some ish?

The Numarks don't. Not sure about the Stantons.

And with the Numarks, if you use the digital outs, you can minipulate the speed without changing the character. So, you can pitch something up by 50% and not get the chipmunk sound. Great feature for sampling musicians.

I don't think 12's have a 'sound of their own'. If they did they would be crap turntables. Needles will make a much bigger difference, and also s-arm tt's usually sound better than the ones with a straight arm.

Stanton STR8-100 doesn;t need to be grounded and has line outs.

I've been using one for years. No complaints. Although my pitchlock shyt is busted.
