On Friday I had the opportunity to go see Galt MacDermot & New Pulse Jazz Band perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. Let me tell you, the show sick!! I was the first person there and I was able to see band practice for about a half an hour before the show started. Even though these dudes are old, they still funky as hell! Bernard Perdi was ridiculous on the drums and Galt was still doing his thing on the keys. While I was waiting, I had the opportunity to meet Galt's daughter and I mentioned to her that I was a big fan of Galt's music and that I collected his records. As soon I she heard that I collected his records, she stopped the conversation and went to grab this suitcase. When she came back ,she opened up the suitcase and proceeded to show me all of these records she had for sale. Low and behold, she had original pressings still in shrink wrap of the following records:
She realized how excited I was seeing these records, that she made a deal with me. I bought all of these records and the compilations records that Edan of Stonesthrow put out for $50. During intermission, I had to run to the bathroom and I left the records with my girl. When I came out, this dude was grillin my records mad hard. When I approached him, he mentioned to me that his son was Edan of Stonesthrow and his son was the one who produced the two compilation albums for Galt's music. I told him I was aware of who his son was and that I was feelin these compilation albums. After further conversation, Edan's father took my contact info and told me that he was going to have Edan give me a call when comes home for Thanksgiving. His father thought, since I was a producer, that Edan and I were good friends. He assured me that Edan would be calling me sometime this week. Anyway,After the show was over, the daughter came up to me and asked me if I wanted to meet Galt. I told her...HELL YEAH!!! So, I had the opportunity to kick it with Galt, Bernard, and the rest of the band. Overall, that night was a good night for me. I had the opportunity pick up records (which I didn't think was going to happen) and I was able to meet Galt and Bernard and watch them do there thing behind the scenes.
