ASR 10 VS EPS 16 PLUS

Had to come back cuz my memory's been jogged a little. You should be able to find the option to save your sounds in "computer" format under the screen where you actually name the instrument before you actually save it. I'll be more than glad to re-check it, because I know that feature alone changed a lot of cat's minds on giving up on the thing for a Triton. (I'm stuck on the Roland Fantom myself)

I used that "computer" before and have never noticed that.
I know exactly where it is.. I'll check when I get home.

Operating system 3.0 for the ASR-10 provides a new command for loading sampled sounds via SCSI from AKAI S1000/1100 series and roland S-700 series formatted scsi sotrage devices This means that the ASR-10 can read sound data from an Akai or Roland-format CD-Rom disk converting the sound data and programs parameters into native-mode ASR-10 data.
The sound can then be saved as an ASR-10 instrument with full editing control over all it's parameters.

This is the only way I see it happening?
What was your source of sounds that he loaded?
How did he load them, what disk did he use?

I believe the EPS16 has more sample rates to select from also... but with more memory and everything else I'd choose a ASR over the EPS unless the eps16 was really at a dope price...

When using scsi cdrom you have the option "IMPORT NON-ASR INSTRUMENT". I think this is what DFD was talking about earlier, I've seen/ran across it in menus before but never used it cause I never had the scsi option installed.

DFD is right. I completely forgot about this feature in the OS3.00 and above version.

I know you can computer format disks, but lamp have you confirmed the saving of wavs?

I've had an ASR-10 rack for over 2 years now. I know there's an option when formatting a floppy disk to either format in "computer" or "ensoniq" format.

To what I know and have done (Eps Disk & Chickensys Translator) you can convert .Wav files to .Efe files and then xfer those files to your ASR10 via floppy/cd or zip disk.

The Ensoniq file format is proprietary (.EFE) and the ASR-10 does not save to the .Wav format.

If I need to stand corrected let me know but I honestly feel someone was misinformed.

i found and eps 16 for like 150 canadian,at this pretty ghetto used junk store near my work. anyone think its worth buying. or should i just put more money together and buy an asr 10?

i would buy it, just to flip it, or maybe use. that is a great price.

This is correct in all my years exper also.
efe, eda, efa, ghk (for the floppy disk image via epsdisk & chicke sys translator). SCSI, I've not had the scsi option installed so I've never tried the IMPORT NON-ASR INSTRUMENTS from roland/akai format cd's.

You cannot do it via floppy though.

cause its junk my nygga. i had one in 1994 and it was played out back then. if you just need a cheap sampler maybe you oughta "ahem" buy yourself a copy of fruity loops or something.

The ASR-10 does not save in .wav, nor does it read .wav files.
