I made a little, but I put a 100% of it in my studio.
Gear: Pro Tools HD (fully blown out), Control 24, Mpc 4000, Virus C, Nord lead 3, nord electro, MC 909, Proteus 2000, Motif rack, Roland XV 5080, Korg Ms 2000, Micro Q ...other synths. Avalon 737 pre amp, Neuman U87 Mic, 2 Technic 1210 turntables, Blue Dragon Fly mic, guitars, bass, live percussion stuff (bongos, shakers). Bunch of other stuff. Tell me how to upload a picture and I'll put it up.
Advice I can give. 1) Keep grindin' and always be prepared. I was workin' at Best Buy dawg, fo real. I was just always making beats. I use to play my &#@$ in the store. All I had was an MPC and a Triton. I did "Awnaw" in my hot a** apartment with just that.
2) Stay focused and be patient. I've been waiting on 1 check for like a year. 3) Keep learning. I'm on this site everyday learning from y'all. You can never know too much. 3) Be original. 4) don't let ANYBODY tell you that you can't make it. Music was my worst class in school. Watermelon, Chicken and Gritz is the 1st thing I ever produced. I'm a rookie.

Here is a PRO tip....

Don't listen to Peeps who say you need a MPC 3000 or a 60 to make a Dope beat...

All you need to do is to run a GATE on your sequenced drums so they are well tight... run a little distortion to taste.... then spice with a touch of compression..... and always remember LESS is MORE !!!!

It was wack as hell that everybody thought he did it. But if I didn't know any better, I would thought he did it too, just because he's a producer and he was all up in the video. For the record though... THAT'S MY SHI#.
I'm 26. I've been making beats for real since about 2000 ( I'm a rookie for real). I'm from Kansas City, Missouri. (GO CHIEFS)
The way I met Nappy was: My roomate was working at Sprint. Nappy's manager was buying a phone from him and they just randomly started talking. My roomate was like Yo, my man makes beats, y'all should check them out. They came to the spot, listened to some beats, and was like 'you got some cool shi#. They came back 3 weeks later, we demoed out one track ( I recorded and mixed all 6 guys on my 1680). Sent it to the label, and they were feelin it. That song was "Hustler" 2nd joint on the album. Atlantic sent them back, and we did another joint and that was Awnaw. They gave me a few G's and I bought a Triton. It just kept happening until I ended up doing damn near the whole album. Every time they gave me loot, I just kept buying gear. Then the damn thing went Platinum and I just went to Guitar Center like " Give me everything!" They was use to me coming in there just looking around and playing on stuff, they denied my check. I ended up going somewhere else and spent like 75 G's.
So basically I still don't know what the f$%@ I'm doing. I'm still learning and grinding everyday.
Some good advice I can offer. Learn Pro Tools. I've heard some people on this site talking sh@# about it, but EVERY studio I've been in has it. So it helps to know it. Don't listen to cats who try to hold you back by saying, "Yo dawg, you don't need all that crap". Honestly you don't, I did Nappy's whole album with a Mpc 2000xl, a Proteus 2000 and a Triton. BUT I was always striving to get bigger and better. So basically, work with what you have, but always be striving for more. It keeps you hungry, It keeps you moving forward. Also, now that I have all this crap, I can rent my studio out and make a living, so it's just a good investment.
