Any tips for getting a clean sample out of my vinyl?

I cleaned all my vinyls before trying to sample them, then ran them through my pre-amp, sometimes I still get a hiss though.

well, when you are recording, you might have the gain too high, therefore you get that hiss. On the other hand though, you might need to ground your pre-amp and/or the turntable. Give those a try

Try experimenting with whatever EQ you have.

I put the gain all the way down, and what do you mean by ground? I connected the ground from the turntable to the preamp...

Ok, it sounds like your grounded...it may be the preamp causing this...just use some EQ and cut a little bit off the 15KHz range

try cleaning your records, or finding one that is clean

Alright, I'll try that. I tried the hiss cut in Adobe Audition and it barely helped but I never tried EQing it.

Did ya check your stylus headshell? Make sure it's screwed tight onto the arm.

soreno, try using that hiss cut again. dont use the preset hiss/noise reductions. mess around with all the values and create your own for that particular track. they help out a lot! the click/pop eliminators and stuff work sometimes too depending on the track..

but sometimes it destroys the sample

yes it certainly does, so use it sparingly!

thanks for the tips, I'll check to see if I have the optimal conection for my headshell.

You are likely using inferior equipment. DJ equipment perhaps?

We've used a $900 needle and a $700 preamp to ensure qood quality recording from vinyl.
