Ok so here´s the deal: I wanna be able to play my MPC1000 on a midi track as for example i would a sound module. So that I can see the notes and edit them within Pro tools on the midi track. Is this possible? If so, how?

the mpc is not an instrument in that regard. you would have to record into pro tools from the mpc's assignable outs and in doing so, you are recording audio not midi.

in the mpc set the track to drum1(or 2,3,4 or however many the 1k has)> change it from OFF to 1A_Device01....

in PT create a midi track> set the input to All> set the output to the midi device you have the MPC connected to> hit record.....

if you already have a sequence in the MPC that you wanna open up in PT for editing just copy the sequence to your pc and import the sequence into PT

But where do I put the midi on all in PT?

OCTO, what did you do to figure this out? i am using an mbox and am having the same problem. i would like to track in my midi tracks into protools but keep the sound i have assigned to it. the problem is that my mbox only records the drums b/c those are the only technical 'audio' going on; thus it doesn't record any of the music i played with midi. fill me in please.

cooocooo,

i own an mbox, and there are no midi inputs on it; i basically want my midi tracks to be recorded as audio in protools. that's why i'm curious about using midi tracks. there isn't anything connected to show levels on the midi track (i feel)

i have my mpc in/outs connected to my roland xv2020 sound module's in/outs. i have this connected to my mixer, and all is well. but i am confused how to transfer this into pro tools. any help would be appreciated.

if you just wanna record audio then all you need is a midi interface(and even then you dont need that) to sync everything up. You can cop a usb midi interface for about 40 bucks then just sync up the mpc and PT and record, do a search for a step by step, its been covered a whole lot

Been covered many times, spots on the board discussing MIDI in and out and all the way thru, from front to back, and side to side.... U JUST GOTTA SEARCH unless someone feels like writing it out and being so gracious and kind as many times before, like i use to do
