i just got an old fisher reciever for free, and on the broken turntable at the top, there was a little piece of plastic about the size of a 45.

i threw it on one of my other lps and played it on my pt01, and it was a samplable rock song and some other blues song

have any of you started collecting these things?
i havent seen them in thrifts, or records stores, or anywhere else

where the hell can i find these nice flimsy pieces of plastic.

Is it acetate you're talking about? Don't know where you'd find it but I do remember the days when you'd get a free disc stuck to the front of a comic or magazine...
I've come accros a few since then, but cant really see why they'd be worth buying, unless it was a recording of something you wanted.

It's a flexidisc, a way to distribute audio really cheaply in the days before cd. If you collected these you'll end up with a lot commercials for perfumes & kids' bedtime stories. Sometimes fan clubs would send out exclusives to their members with theses ...... but the tracks weren't going to be that good or they wouldn't be giving them away free. I remember some rave fliers from the late '80s on flexidisc.

It is definately not an acetate. Acetates are really thick & heavy & are usually metal on one side.

Dubplates...

They look like acetate though...the thin transparent acetate. Just got the name wrong.

Do you know how they were made featherboy? Same as vinyl ?

rave Fliers on flexi discs that's pretty cool.
