Your answer mean that the ASR have internal sounds? Does it support 12 bits? Why some guys claimed ASR & MPC such a good combo ? ASRX got the external outputs (howmany?). I ll never leave my mp, but as i already got da S1000, is the ASRX real intersted in my set up?
Thank in advance.

Don't waste your money. The 2 big advantages of an ASRX over the MPC are resampling ability and built in sounds. Unless you absolutely need the ASRX built in sounds, don't bother. Get a sound module instead.

Great!!! I ll probably listen how it sound
because off the price(170 euros), that real low in the carribean...
Thanks 4 advice, really appreciate. Big up & take care!!

ASR X will murder the MPC in many respects. I know its blashphemy to say so on an MPC board but... truth is truth. You can chop samples on an X with pure ease. Just tap the pad that you wanna assign the sample to. It was designed for doing music derived from Hip Hop. I say go for it. You will not regret it.

Killa,

I feel these cats all have valid points. 'cept for "Eat my Richard..." which, I don't know why money said that, but, it's Fu*#ing hillarious...
anyway, I agree w/ both arguments. The ASRX, as a sampler, is way better than the MPC, unless you f'in w/ an MPC4000. But the ASR is a REAL sampler, meaning you can filter, attack, decay, release, etc, in REAL time. Not just on retrigger like the 2000 series. Also, the audio outputs (8outs steeze w/ 2 stereo, just like the MPC) are way warmer than the MPCs, meaning, it just sounds better. The algorithms and oversampling, basically the engine of the machine, is just plain higher quality, and therefore sounds less tinny. THis has to do with white noise, and it's just a fact of life in the digital realm. HOWEVER, the heart and soul of the MPC is it's interface and it's sequencer. The screen is WAY better to look at on the MPC than the ASRx. THe asr is like reading a friggin calculator that was built in the 80s. Quichy for some, but when you serious, no fun at all. Most importantly, I feel, w/ the screen: The MPC series has waveform display, so you can chop effortlessly, and a separate zone section, so when you chop, your making a duplicate of that size only. With e asr, you gotta listen over and over and dial in numbers. Cats who rock the mpc60 and 3000 will tell you that that's better, cus you're soing it with your ears, but combining that w/ the annoyance of the asr interface is weeetaaaded (retarded).
Lastly, the ASR SEQUENCER SUCKS ASS. Plain and simp, dog. It's rediculously annoying to sit down at that thing and play something funky. Now, don't tell that to The Alchemist, he loves the ASR series. But for real, the quantizing sucks on those, and you will hate that.
Now, I will say that, based on the difference in how the samplers sound, the interfaces, and how you sequence differently, you will come up with a rather different sound from an ASR, perhaps in a pleasing manner. If you have the dough, cop an MPC4000. You get the realtime control & knobs and shit, but skip the whack sequencer. What I do is go to sam ash or guitar center, play with them sh*%ts for a couple weeks, then go buy the one I like somewhere cheaper. Peace..

trupro was on point about the ASR's f*cked up sequencer. I own an ASR-X Pro and an MPC 60. Most of my sampling and resampling is done on the ASR because of it's ease and effect options. The sequencer and the use of drums, I use my 60 (on the ASR too once in a while).. I have used the sequencer on the ASR before I got my 60II and at that time, I wasn't to happy with the sequencer. The sequencer is simple compared to the MPC's, which just stomps on it. If you have to many notes going at once, the sequencer will hiccup. I just midi the two together. The only thig that bites is loading up two disks (one for each machine.)

If you decide to get the X (original; not the Pro) make sure it has the latest eprom chip O.S. and an SCSI connector. The expanded Ram would be good to (32mb).

I didn't like playing around with the ASRX Pro's 2 nipples to do everything that I needed. I agree with the "REAL SAMPLER" vs the 2k series. ASRXPro HAS BETTER functions in that respect and effects. Expandable ROM's , internal sounds and higher maximum RAM ceiling help the cause out also, but I sold my ASR X Pro a long time ago cause there is just something that I couldn't get past and that was the sequencer, hard pads and the nipples (that's what I called them). You tweak everything on the nipples and yes, it was like working with an "old calculator" back in the days. I was happier with my 2kxl, though it is not as strong and warm as a ASRX PRO I was intrigued by the pads, sequencer and ease of use. I like both but my preference is the MPC series..

I'd like to thanks y'all for all advices,really enjoy dem,give y'all
respct, 'cept...!! :D Thanks for warnin' me 'bout de SCSI option pon the ASR X.
Yep! i will NEVER trade my MP  cause it's my BABE!! But i was just lookin' out to a good sampler wid a tight sound"the warmy" one...Different than de S1000.
So i think i will goto the ASR X, but i will play it thru my 2kxl or keyboard.

'send 'nuff respect from the W.I.

Big up! and take care.

I heard that the asrx'es are buggy... but the filters and efx are KILLER. The ASR10 keyboard version was different, so I read... but if you have another sequencer to sequence the ASRX then go for it. The internal sounds shouldn't be such a big deal, but if it's the pro then it might be cause it has more, plus empty slots to add more ensoniq MR series expansion boards, but the major selling point is the filters and effects.... for real dog if it's a good deal then you might want to check one out. I use the MPC myself but the ASRX is not a toy either...

Go talk to UNSYSTEMATIC; he's got that asr-x he uses w/ the 60. Althought the X is a newer model than the 10, it's interface is similar. Ensonique has thier own steeze, just like akai. You will be making some dope ish...
