please help

check i've been a dj for years, now im starting to dabble into produuction. I bought an mpc 2000 from off of ebay, but it didnt come with an instruction manual, disc, or anything. just the machine, and power cord.
i have no idea how to use it, but i can understand technical terms, aka im not stupid, can someone please tell me where i can find a tutorial, or will the same tutorials work for the 2000xl

yeah, ive read the tutorials, but they are all for the mpc2000xl, are they basically the same?

my mpc didnt come with an instruction manual, i've read the mpc2000xl manual, but it didnt help much, when i load a disk of samples iv bought, it says no system file. what is going on?

ask someone for the o/s boot disk so you can rebbot the operating system....

If this is not an XL but an original 2000, you need the boot disk to start it up every time, I use the original 2000 and this is how it's done... the XL I believe has the os stored in it already... you can download the OS ver. 1.72 at the akai download site...

is the OS 1.72 for the xl aswell? mine is only at version 1.14. Does anybody recommend updating it or do you not really need it?

No, OS 1.72 is for the regular mpc2000 only. I got a mpc2000xl and It has 1.14 and I don't think there is any newer one yet.

1.14 is 2kxl. Doesn't need start disk..
1.72 is 2k. Always needs start disk..
