Well...the problem is not with the Proteus 2000 or the XV-5080. The problem lies with MIDI OUTS C and D. If you connect any synth to these OUTPUTs, the note off function will not work propely. MIDI OUTs A and B work fine will all the synths

This has been confirmed on at least one other MPC 2500. I am not sure if it is software or hardware related.

Hey Jahrome,
please keep us informed. I´m saving money for my percect combo MPC 2500+Mo´phat(modul) and would really like to know if theese machines work well together, or if the Bug you reported will be fixed.
You seem to be very into solving that kind of problems...respect, man.

toxictobi,

The Mo Phatt will work perfectly with the MPC 2500...as long as you don't use MIDI OUTPUTs C and D

I will continue to share any info I receive.

I was informed that this problem is software related and has already been reported. It is likely that it will be in the next OS update...but no release date has been set.

i just confirmed the same behavior on my machine. good that it is only a software problem...

Does your MPC 25000 C and D MIDI Output ports work fine or are you experiencing the same issues?

So pretty much DON'T HOOK UP ANY SYNTH TO C AND D OUTS? What is note off? I mean if I'm just trying to sequence on the 2500 and use a synth on c and d---the sound is not gonna be what I'm playing I presume..........

If your record a seqeunce using synths connected to MIDI OUTs C or D, they will not play back properly. The notes will continue to play even after the sequence is stopped.

Guess they better come on with that software update

Yeah, they really need to fix this yesterday. This is the main reason why I added the 2500 to my set-up. I am really pissed right now with Akai. I can't figure out why the beta testers and programmers didn't see this problem prior to releasing these units.

hmm... sometimes midi clock can confuse equipment. you said that it keeps on playing notes when the sequencer is stopped. still, try to stop mpc from sending midi clock on any midi output.

Trust that it has nothing to do with MIDI clock or anything like that. This problem was confirmed my Akai Technical Support.

my mpc 2000xl does that with my triton le

it happens when I'm loading on the mpc, but it doesnt happen every time

the way I stop it is too unplug the midi cord then plug it back in

usually that stops it

I know its not the best method but its a quick fix until the OS upgrade

hope this helps

The MIDI implementation of Korg synths are horrible. I have owned the Triton/Triton Studio for years. It is the worst keyboard by far when it comes to using it with external MIDI gear.

As far as your suggestion about the stuck MIDI notes, unplugging the MIDI cable doesn't work. When the notes get stuck, you can send a program change to switch programs, which will usually stop the stuck notes. However, with the Proteus, even this doesn't work. You have to stop the MPCs sequencer and locate the stuck note on the MPCs pads or the external MIDI keyboard, and hit the pad/key. This will usually stop the stuck note.

The best solution is not to use the MIDI out C or D until Akai fixes this with an OS update. You still have MIDI OUTs A and B to play with

The whole MIDI thing makes me mad too. That's one main reason that I wanted it also - for the four MIDI outs so I could have more external modules. They really need to fix this problem.

Let me know if you hear anything about them fixing it cause I'll be getting my 2500 in about 2 weeks
