do you think it's really serious to buy a mpc or any other electronic device and thinking that you can use it well without reading many times the manual????

yo man where on the french riviera are u? i was in nice about a month ago - and we hit st paul, canne, ran into italy real quick and hit san remo and vitlimiglia, and dipped over to monaco too........its beautiful over there man

I bout my 2000 used without a manual. I think i know just about everything it does. Took me a little while to understand stuff.

this thread is hilarious.

as if you wouldnt read the manual. its there for a reason, and its full of knowledge.

in fact, if half the people on this forum read the manual properly, thered be less stupid questions clogging the forums.

sure you can use almost any music gear simply without a manual, but id like to see some blockhead like that come to my studios and try to keep pace. we've got a living to earn and that means being the best at what we do and most efficient with the gear we have to meet the clients needs (our clients are tv stations and private business mainly at the moment).

but im biased... i went to university for music technology education and loved every minute of it. im a tech-tweaker and we're always building something or modifying something...

if you use street cred to defend a lack of intelligence regarding the ability to read and understand features of a device... good for you. its a pretty thin excuse though. lazy muthafukker :lol: :lol: :lol:

Let see, given this, you should be able to assemble any children's toy without the manual (and have it done before christmas). You should be able to cook anything without a recipe. You should be able to design, write and deploy any piece of software in any computer language for any platform. You should know how many quarts of oil need to go into your new car without the manual (you will figure out eventually right?). You should already know what those 122 pages of mortgage documents say before you sign them. And most importantly, you should be able to do that 84 page tax return for a sub-chapter-S corp without any instructions.

Sorry, but that statement reeks to much like that old saying, "Give a thousand monkeys a thousand typewriters and within a thousand years the perfect novel with eventually get typed."

Sure people can get by without a manual, but I like to spend my time writing music, not figuring out the machine. Usually the same people that do not read the manuals are not aware of the all the features the machine does.

I first touched my MPC with my manual on the table next to it in case I ran into more than I can chew, and I went from there.. Did the same with my Triton. I read my ASR10 manual maybe 2 times before I touched it cause it was my first sampling machine and I didn't wanna miss out on stuff. I would advise not to underestimate the helpfulness manual..

Let's face it some of us catch on faster than others. Hell 100 of us could read the exact same chapter in the manual and still interpet the passages differently. Well, maybe not a hundred of us but I think yall get the message. Some of just comprehend better with a visual aid some vice versa. As for reading my manual yes I've read it a few hundred times or so but the point is I read the book to sharpen my understanding of the MPC. And still for the most part I learned everything hands on just as I learned how to play my modules and learned how to identify sample points in records and etc;. Sure I don't know everything I'd like to or need to know but who does? That's what this forum is for. Another thing as for the coment about people clogging up the forum with stupid questions, how does replying to so called stupid posts not clog up the forum in the same manner? The only thing stupid about asking a question in my opinion is not being smart enough to ask soon enough! If reading a manual was so cut and dry would you still be reading this post! !

with the manual......there is no hope for me

im going to have to read it a couple of times before i understand whats goin' on in that box.

i think i sorta bit off more than i can chew - i bought a whole bunch of recording gear at once - and i cant use any of it right now. its gonna take me like 6 months or better before i can at least feel somewhat proficient at what i'm doing and can start makin' BEATS and be like my man with tha "tv clients"

yeah! mo' money mo' money MO MONEY

but for rill.....i work at a university and get to take free classes, so im 'bout to take some audio recording classes to get a good foundation for this stuff.......i wanna make this my job - making beats and producing music. for me it is well worth the time to invest as much energy as possible into mastering my "instrument" - the mpc

Even though you can't master it right away you got the right idea for the future, take the classes and transfer what you've learned in the classes to the manuals and hands on training with the gear and you will be on your way, it's NOT going to happen overnight.. Yeah, be patient.. You are not hopeless..
