I'm a new MPC 1000 owner and I am not use to it's real time sequencer so I was wondering if anybody knew how to hook up an MPC 1000 to a Roland MC 505 Groovebox through midi and use the sounds from the MPC 1000 on the Groovebox's sequencer?

I don't wanna argue about the sequencers and which one is better I just want an answer, please reply if you can help.

Thanks!

the mpc 1000 isn't multi-timbral so you can sequence the programs on it with an external sequencer, if that's what you're trying to do.

sorry, i meant to say you "can't" sequence programs on the mpc from an external sequencer. so you can't do it.

because it's not multi-timbral, which means its sounds can't be controlled on multiple midi channels. Only the active track can be played from an external source. (at least that's what i think it means)
the mpc 1k is more sequencer than sampler. for what you wanna do a rack sampler would work.
but if your happy just controlling a single program from your external sequencer you can do that. but not multiple programs.

also what you could do is record midi from your 505 into a track on the mpc. so you select a track/program on the mpc, play or input your pattern on you 505 and then record that into the mpc track. you need to check the midi slave and master settings, so it's in sync. I dunno much about the 505, but I use this method for using my rm1x with my mpc 1k and it works fine. but you'll prolly wanna check the manual for detailed instructions.

Man, don't get discouraged...the MPC's sequencer is so much better. Learn how to use it and then throw that MC505 in the gutter.

ya if you wanna use the sounds on the 505 just make that the slave and the mpc the master-
