software sounds into the mpc through MIDI

I own an MPC 2000 and in order for me to sample sounds from my reason 3.0 sound bank I connect my PC's wave out to the record in on the MPC and record sampled sounds in that way. is there a way to sample sounds from a software program like Reason via MIDI? Thanks

MIDI signal is not audio, so you can not record samples through it. you need to read up on what MIDI actually is, it will save you a lot of trouble later on. search or ask google and you should be straight.

Actually some samplers (EMU is one) do allow you to send and receive samples over MIDI cables, but the MPC will not do this...

but midi and scsi works well (smidi?), but I dunno if any of the mpcs support that.

did not know you could send samples thru midi. I always understood midi to be Data not audio.

Correct. It's a sample data dump. Not audio that you can hear.

But that's not midi.You can go from the out of your pc to the mpc in,i've done it before and it's not too bad.I would rather work with raw audio data anyway.

Right i've heard that sampling can actually be done through MIDI data dump. The reason why I asked in the first place was because i heard some where that it can be done only catch is that the device receiving the data has to contain the sounds and then from there the receiving device configures the data(notes,modulation, effects etc) if the receiving device contains them also then in the sense I guess it would be sampling through MIDI. I guess I should've been more specific and asked of that method. I apologize. Thanks for the feedback and info. I really appreciate it.
