to answer some of your allegations, the society i live in thinks everything i do/believe is wrong, so this is no big surprise to me. and yes, i'd definitely take an hour or two to save 64 dollars because i'm just that cheap. and yes i am trying to undermine civilization and do away with the concept of property.

plus, the return process isn't that hard - i've returned stuff to gc w/ no questions asked. they're quick to tell you when spouting deals about their 30 day return policy.

the solution is...the pads shouldn't have this problem...it shouldn't have to come down to replacing a pad on a machine that is a year old

i'd much rather shaft a corporation that sold me a faulty product rather than take one for the team

anyways, on topic: its just a matter of time before people start swapping mpcs with eachother and using a guitars centre mpc as the middle man

but seriously, i thought of this, but not the criminal way. i have the oppourtunity to buy an open box moc for 750 cad, about 640 US, and i would switch some of my faulty pads, and cf card reader which is damaged, then put it on ebay for a little less. so im not conin' people

if you can afford to temporarily throw an mpc on your debit or credit card you can afford to order replacement pads. i'd rather spend the cash to avoid the hassle of dealing with GC.

guitar center is notorious for opening up its locations right next to mom and pop stores, having insane sales until the mom and pop store closes, and then suddenly prices aren't too insane anymore. i know its all "business" and whatnot but they can get ruthless with putting competitors out of business.

so if someone does that to a huge chain like them, then maybe its just karma. and i actually i bought my 1000 from a guitar center and had to return it 2 or 3 times cause the pads were awful. whatever. there are people out there that abuse their return policy way worse.

and yes, the 30 day return thing shouldn't be an issue (unless they try and make you use it as store credit which i dont think is gc's policy so you should be straight).


i dont know if i would go this far, but it does kinda make sense to abuse this policy. especially after i spent a couple hours taking my 1000 apart to put thermal gease on the pads.

I, personally, wouldn't do this particular exchange. But I am not at fault for my own trickery a time or two. Sometimes when I don't have enough cash for a particular machine, I'll buy something of a lesser price, but that is comparable to the machine that I really want so I can fiddle with somethin, and then return it later with the rest of the cash to get the machine I do want.

Most of the time I do this so I won't spend the money that I currently have towards the machine. So I won't dare judge you for this thinking!

The only thing I would urge you to do is not do this too much to the GC thats closest to you, or the one that you go to the most.


And also, let me know the one you did it to, so I won't go there and buy it!

and as for me getting rid of personal property, that was just play. if a person eats or drinks something, which he/she must do to survive, he/she has personal property.

i just don't give a damn about guitar center and agree with chupacabra - i'd rather dick over a company than take one for the team and deal with faulty merch, esp when the mpc1k is gonna be my live drumset on tour in the spring/summer

I have no problems with swaping em from a major chain. They are known to be ruthless, imma go ahead and try it..And people saying its a cheap way well **** that its called pimpin the system homeboy and its all good.....
