2500 vs 2000xl MCD

obviously the 2500 has more features. i'm about to get an MPC, all these years i been using software and my triton.."cats cant walk while chewin ya gum and all, what a keyboard got to do with a drum and all?"-Black Thought...
Anyway, i want the pads, simplicity, and that funk, so i'm sold either way, the ? is, what does the 2500 have that the 2kxlMCD doesn't, and does it lack anything that the 2k has? From what i'm thinkin, i'm gonna hook 2 outs to my 828, what would you use 8 outs for? enlighten me.. hit me back cuz i'm bout to drop a wad of paper on this piece. Stay Up

Can i use the MPC as just a controller if i wanted to, say using battery or dynamo and my drum machine and just using the bads for the midi... and can i record a loop on different tracks (seperating kicks and snares, etc.)

There are quite a few differences. The big ones that come to mind are that the 2500 has Auto Slicing, Patched Phrase, Grid Sequence, a larger max memory, and the ability to install a hard drive and CD drive. You mentioned the 8 outs which would be useful if you plan to pick up more gear some day. Yes, you can use the MPC as just a controller. Not sure what you mean by recording a loop on different tracks and separating the sounds. If the loop is a sample that contains all of the sounds together, then, no, you won't be able to put the sounds on separate tracks (unless you get creative with the Chop Shop function). If you are recording the loop yourself, then, yes, you can put each sound (each drum) on separate tracks.

yes u can use it to control battery or dynamo just using the pads and midi

and the answer to that second question is yes if I'm understanding u correctly

if you were going to drop $1699 on a new mcd model. you can call VST or alto music and get a 2500 for a price that is worth it. I would go for the 2500. you can do just as much on the 2500 as you can on the mcd and the 2500 has a lot more features for the price. I never thought i would need to have 8 outs until i started getting real serious about my music then it took me over a year to find 8 outs for my 2kXL they are 250 retail. add that option to the mcd and bam you have the price of a 2500 with memory,cd drive,8 outs, 2 extra midi outs, effects ,and featurs etc. go for the 250000000000!
