do you have records already? do you want to?

what about cds?

do you know how to scratch or want to learn?

Bottom line, turntables goes along with the crate digger lifestyle. Are u prepared to learn more about old records and sample from them, or are you more into modules, sample packs, and sampling off cds u already have.

and you dont need cd decks just to sample off cd, you can use your stereo or diskman just fine.

If you decide on turntables, then I'd definately recommend the Numark TTX1. I have a pair and they (for me) provide the sound reproduction of a 1210 with a range of features not provided by the Technics (built in pre-amps, seperate start/stop speed controls, 78 speed playback and a +/- 8%, 10%, 20% or 50% pitch control).

Numark also make for my money the best CDJ deck - the CDX1. This deck is modelled on the TTX1 and has a real vinyl on the top to control the cd with.

It has to be vinyl decks because theres a huge wealth of stuff out there on vinyl that you'll miss out on if you get CD decks. Also they tend to be cheaper. Although you could team up with a mate (like I do) and put both of you decks together for marathon DJing sessions 2x Technics 1210, 2x Denon S3000 2x mixers and a fair few amps and speakers. Mmm... noisy.

well if your going to be sampleing get the turntable, and later down get the CD turntable. You don't need anything fancy, just something that can record sound real good.
