Quick bit of advice please

Right, one of my good friends landed a job editing porn recently, and another gave his company some music for the porn to see if they liked it.

They like it and told him to bring them a contract, but he wants to maybe 'finish' the tracks for himself ie. retain the copyright, and maybe release the tracks comercially at a later date.

I told him (guess) that he could either sell them the music for a price (handing over the copyright) or licencse it to them thus keeping the copyright, getting a few quid and keeping his music as his own.

What would you recommend?

if he wants to use the song again then he should license it.

if he plans on NEVER using the song again, tell him to give up the copyrights to the company.

Anyone have any ideas about a contract for licensing? If he copyrights it, could he just knock up the contract himself and it would be legally binding?

My advice is - SELL 100% rights and all...your friend can make more music that is not asociated with the porn industry. Those cats don't pay enough for music from my experience...I've tried to sew up deals for music on two porn flix and couldn't reach a deal on either...
