i can arrange a song on the mpc and convert it to one whole sequence but how do you drop the beat in and out and record it in the song to stay? The only way i can do it is to record it to one sequence then roughly drop beat in and out as i record it into cubase as it plays? anyone help?

If you are using the 8 outs you can track each instrument and mute the part you want to make it drop.Even if you don't have the 8 outs you can do this but it takes some time tracking 1 or 2 at a time.I think that's what you mean right?

Make a bunch of copies of the main seq.

alter the different copies by realtime erasing different parts of the pads.

make a song with those different seq's in the order u want them to play out.

record that song into your pc.

so the only way to do is by arranging diffent sequences with the drops in and out etc abnd lay this out into the song mode? is their no way to do like say on reason 2.5 where you can record the drum drops in and out as it plays as when i try to do this when the song has been exported as one whole sequence it doesnt work? thanks

I use Cubase too. But i actually record more ontop of the main MPC idea after multitracking. I dont have 8 0uts and its not that time consuming to seperate each drum and instrument on seperate passes.. even if i got the 8 outs i'd have to repatch all my ins from the MOTU each time i used MP to track into cubase which i dont always do..some ideas from from drumloops in LIVE which i usually replay with Battery sampler.

ok i digress.. just do the drops in Cubase unless you Pfr working in MPC in song mode. I still use song mode to build arrangement - but i dont sweat mutes and drops until cubase where i easily cut up the beat and mute the slices and change is with a click if i dont like it.. or things change. Errybody has there routine..thats just mine for what its worth.
