Sad day here.......Shadow quits using his MPC

if shafdow had kept up with the quality of endtroducing then fair play but the guy fell off ages ago- he's like rjd2 now...elevator music is harsh- but the stuff i heard was instantly forgettable...

Can see why he has to move on to keep it interesting for himself but don't rate his more recent stuff very highly.

The mackems are, indeed, known as 'the scum' 'village of the damned' and 'the great unwashed.' Looking like they'll break their all time low Prem points record. Wouldn't be bothered if they finished fourth bottom an managed to stay up for the sake of the derby and 6 guaranteed points fo us. Enjoyed watching Pompey demolish them!

i basically think some peeps are more suited to making sample based music and when they start trying to do soley original or smaple lite stuff there music sometimes suffers....

he says he still uses samples all the time but doesnt use whole phrases or loops- im thinking he should go back to what he knows

No no no... it's not Shadow's track.
It's Keak Da Sneak (Bay Area rapper.)
DJ Shadow just produced it.

I'm sure it was made to live in today's radio/club world, and I would doubt that Shadow's next album would sound like this.
(But, who knows? I've heard that he's really feeling The South right now.......)

I actually kinda dig it. When you put the production up against the stuff that's on the radio, I think it stands out - or at least holds up.

shadow has always been into gangsta rap, nothin new. only new to his fans, i guess. personally, i think this track is brilliant. i know a lot of people here are into breaks and "hip-hop" and they want shadow to stay just within that realm. personally, i'm glad to see him take his music into a new direction and look forward to hearing what else hes cooking up.

Wow, I didn't know that. The few blogs I had seen that song on didn't present it as such. If it is going on his next LP, I guess we're in for a major shift in his sound. That's fine with me. I'm as big a Shadow fan as most, but I don't feel the need to keep him in a little box chained to his MPC3000.


When I first heard that track - it was on a mixtape of newish Bay Area stuff posted on a blog. When that song came on - it totally stuck out. Those triplet stabs on the chorus caught my attention right away - I was diggin it.
It was only later after a little research that I found out Shadow produced it.
Most of the sites just listed it as Keak Da Sneak ft. Turf Talk.
