multi tracking on boss BR-1200 ( I need serious help)

Does anyone out thier multi track from the 2kxl to a Boss BR-1200?
I need some help man. The manual is a joke. I cant even get my input levels to jump. It aint reading the sounds from my mpc

multi-tracking is where the fun ENDS! hehe. I hate tracking my beats (that's why I just do direct MPC-CD beats. Play and burn. haha, but you can do a lot more with your tracks when you record them the correct way. I don't know anything about your recorder, but the first thing you haev to do is sync them together. MTC on both machines (or whatever wordclock you choose).. you have to go into the midi setup of both machines. Check the manual for 'sync or midi sync.. something like that) on both machines. Once you have that set, you have to set the tempo map (let the recorder know how fast the beat will be.. so your not recording a 92bpm track at 120bpm's on the recorder. I used to slave the mpc to the recorder.. that way, when I hit record on the recorder, the MPC plays. I'm no midi, or recording guru, so if someone wants to correct me, or can make it sound a little simpler, go right ahead.
p.s.. if you still wanna sell the recorder, holla at a niggum! I need one bad!

Damn finnaly someone replied. Well I already went in and synced everything up. I slaved the mpc to the 16 track. When I go to record on the 16 track It plays the wrong notes back on the mpc. Like itll play the drums correctly but the sample plays back wrong. I dont know what the deal is. As far as selling You can buy it off me for $1000 being that its brand new out the box and it cost damn near 1200

Dayum.. not for a g note.. I'm trying to spend no more than $250 on a recorder. , but I think your problem is with the tempo map on your boss.. I got kinda lost when you said..

how do you slave the MPC to track 16?
Solo just your kick drums on the MPC, and arm the track 1 on the recorder. Hit record so the MPC plays the kick drum and you should see the levels displayed on the recorder. If it plays back correctly, record the track (assuming you have alreadyhave the beat in song mode) and then do the same with th rest of your instruments. You should be able to record at least 4 tracks at a time.
I hope that helps.. I sold my vs-1880 about 2 years ago for the same reasons.. too complicated. I knew how to work the machine, but I hated to even turn it on. That's why it's really important to have gear that's easy to use. What good is technology if it's hard to use? Nahmean?
Try this. Take 1 whole day and just sit down with the recorder. Tell you girl to give you a day off.. take out the garbage early so pops won't get on your nerves. . A few dedicated hours and I'm sure you can have that machine figured out.

I said slave the mpc because, I want the multitrack to start the mpc when i hit record. When I change the midi settings on the multitrack I turn it to the "master" setting, which obviously slaves the mpc. I then go into the midi sync screen on the mpc and change the settings to recieve midi time code messages through the corresponding midi ports. Also I changed the settings in the multitrack to Midi time code.

wish I could help you out more with it. Unfortunately, I'm pretty much in the same boat as your in. Would be nice if someone else could guide you in the right direction tho.. at least I tried.

Don't sync the MPC to the Boss. Sync the boss to the mpc. The boss will start recording(after its armed to record) once you hit play on the MPC. Sounds like the boss is sending out a midi note message that the MPC is responding to.

Calm down brother. Whats the main problem? You getting audio into the tracks on the Boss? Are you running out your main outs or the individuals or both on the MPC? Did you set the Boss to recieve MTC and set it to be a slave? Set the MPC to Output MTC as the master on the proper MIDI outs. These are just the basics man, tryin yo see where your at so we can get ya to where your goin....

You cant slave that type of track recorder. Thats what the manual says. And it doesnt have a slave option in the midi category, Only master. I have the main outs of mpc running into the input of the recorder. Yes Im getting a signal. I can get the recorder to trigger the mpc to start. When I push play on the recorder the mpc plays back everything correctly except long samples wich it will play only 1 second of it repeatedly over and over again. I dont know why its doin this. Ive been messing with this thing for 8 hours so far. Shouldnt be this difficult to midi a track recorder. Boss sucks. Maybe i should just get another kind. All I want to do is to be able to track out beats into the recorder, mix add effects and save for easy transportation to the studio so I dont need to lug all my equip. It holds 240 hours of music. what do yall use? cause Im fed up with this thing
