Will MPC 2500 be capable of reading from a Floppy Drive?

I just asked this question because the studio I go to in Clearwater, FL. uses the MPC 3000 and loads his sounds in his unit with a floppy drive. Now, I know you may be thinking that I can just load them into my computer and put them on a floppy if need be, but I don't even have a floppy drive on my computer(neither on of them (2))!

So, please tell me that maybe there will be a way to store/load sounds on a floppy drive now or later on in the future!

P.S. sorry for being the 'old guy at the bar in the club'.

My Engineer was pissed at me when I told him which MPC I bought, considering I told him I was getting the 3000! He will never stop using his 3000, and with the things he does with it, I dont blame him.

1. Try buying an external floppy drive for your computer. ( 10-30 bucks )

I figured as much. Its just me being a 99% hardware junkie, I was hoping for a way to do this without the use of a computer.

Just get a USB drive for the MPC and load from there.

Has this been comfirmed? Can I just get an external USB floppy drive hooked up to my MPC 2500 and load/save everything like i would an MPC 3000?

If so, Im on my way to Best Buy right now!

I heard that on the SampleKing's video for it when the 2.5K was first announced. Plus, you could do it with the 4K.

So, you are trying to get MPC 2500 files to floppy because the studio you are going to has an MPC 3000 that uses floppies?? The 2500 is not compatible with the 3000 unless you are saving only MIDI files.

You can not get a USB drive for the MPC 2500 because it won't work.

Help me to understand exactly what this means. I mean, this does mean that the I can play the sounds I save on an MPC 2500 to a format that will allow me to play the sounds back from a MPC 3000, Right?

Also(not on the point), has the new Scratch Mag come out yet Jahrome?

Now that stinks. Still a good deal, but a workaround if you want stuff transferred from a floppy.

Just buttin' in... the new SCRATCH is out (I think. I subscribe though) and it has Nas and D.J. Premier on the cover. They are finally going to do an entire album together... YEAH!!!

Yeah, I heard is was out but haven't had a chance to pick it up. I should just stop being lazy and complete the subscription form instaed of driving 20 minutes to the mall...

yeah the scratch mag has been out for a couple of weeks now. the reason you can not hook up any external devices to the 2.5k via usb is because the usb port on the unit is slave only. (meaning you can only hook a computer up to it). the reason why you can use snd (thru computer) is because they assume you have a floppy drive on your computer and you can transfer from your 3000 to your computer then to your 2.5k from your compute via usb.
