I saw an MPC 2500 with the DVD drive and EXM 128 already installed at a retail store on sale for $2299. Is it a good buy?

That is the manufacturer's suggested retail price. That is really not a good deal if the MPC 2500 is widely available. I would try Alto Music and VST service to see if they can beat that price. Odds are that they can beat that price by hundreds of dollars.

Personally, I would try to get it for just under $2000.

Alto music is going to be your best bet as far as price goes. If you are patient, they'll get it to you for 1610 shipped and all! And then, go to ebay and find your memory there for no more than 40 dollars. Those 2 items should cost no more than 1650 total. You tell me if its a good deal now

Sale it to sam ash, guitar center or on-highly recommended-ebay. Get a check, cash it and buy it from alto music. Or ask the store if they'll price match. Don't fall for that can't sell below retail price crap-cause that is game. I was a saleman myself!

yeah my first route is probably gonna be guitar center since they are willing to give me good money for the used gear

Sam ash is trying to lowball, they offering like $300 less than what Guitar Center would do

Guitar Center will not give you good money on gear. That is the pitch they will give you. You can get way more money puttng it up for auction on eBay.

You have a 2000xl? What are you looking to get for it? Put it on ebay or Check on ebay for the 2500 being sold by ARMENS music. He takes trades. He may give you a reasonable amount for your xl. Plus, he has a decent price (1799.00) on the 2500. You may beat us all on the price! Give it a looksee :D

Shit guitar center Gave me $1000 for Mine. A newer blue model with a zip in it. Just depends on how much business you do with them, ya know. Trade in for a 2500 for another G out the door w/the128memory card.

Actually...giving you credit towards another product and flat out buying a used product from you is completely different.

I could see where he would give you credit so you can buy a more expensive item. They can actually sell the MPC 2500 for just uder $1600 and still make profits. So they actually got your MPC 2000XL for about $550.

I could move that unit on eBay for a minimum of $1000. Then you would have only had to add another $600-$700 for a 2500......saving you a few hundred dollars.

I just wanted to add that so far, I have the 2500 with the Kingston memory. So far I have invested 1650. When its all said and done, I'll have the Toshiba hard drive and the MCD thingamajigg and I'll have invested a total of 1850 maybe 1900 tops! It pays to keep an eye out for the good prices.
