Side Chaining?

There def is a difference but the word is just ignorant and shouldn't exsist. IMO,it's used out of context and the wrong people are usin' it the wrong way.

By the way i think that was Common,wasn't it?

i know my Waves vst compressor has side chain...ill try when i get home.

If VST can't sidechain, what on a PC can??

I believe Vegas will give you the capability to duck audio...the el cheapo 3630 has side chain inputs if ilm not mistaken. I use ducking most often to reduce the levels of music when narration starts but I do it manually...The Yamaha 02r mixers also have side chain capabilities in the dynamics menu. You can actually duck a signal with a compressor without sidechain inputs - it just requires a bit of creative routing...

for example, send your bass drum track on whatever send at a good level. open a comp/gate whatever on any other track. click the key input (?) and select the bass drum send bus. side chaining can be used for a lot of stuff, so try different things out. i can make a video at some point when i get my camera.


side-chaining is something i can't live without.
