MPC 1K PADS TAKEN APART

It is fairly obvious if someone has taken the pads apart, they would be difficult to put back properly.

I initially undid the entire thing which took over 2 hours to do, i placed little pieces of cotton from the end of a Q-tip inbetween each one and the sensor thinking it would work better. it didnt. it didnt work at all ):
so another 2 hours later, i basically wasted 4 hours opening my mpc.

bah.

(probably not worth stickying, though people who wanted to put thermal paste inbetween their pads, this should give you a good idea of what to expect.)

i certainly cant see how each pad would cost 16 $

I was actually able to repair my pads using CircuitWorks Rubber Keypad Repair Kit. I repaired my 1 and 2 pads.
The pads are like new now. And I'm happy that I did it.
BUT after doing the repair it seemed like
it would be a LOT easier just to order a new pad for $16.

i got one lazy pad... you got to press real hard to make it work... i took my mpc apart and switched it around with one i hardly use... but it would be nice to have all pads working properly...

does someone know where to get these single pads in holland, belgium or germany?

I e-mail akai and VST about a month ago. They were both willing to ship to Ireland ie. Europe. But the price VST gave for the shipping of just pads was $18, alot considering there so light. (that was for the 2000xl ones at the time)

not too bad.

i've been quoted 120$ for sending the piece of generic ram i wanted to order for my 1k.

just do it by regular post, it'll take two weeks but will usually be two hundred times cheaper.

Regular post? my head is in bits with it. I bout by MPC off ebay 4 weeks ago and it still wont be here for about 3 weeks cus he sent it through canada post normally. Id pay that little bit more to get it to ya. I just want my MPC

maybe the $16 is for the entire 1 pad assembly, not just for the rubber piece. i don't know if i would pay $16 for just a piece of rubber. if it is for the entire 1 pad assembly, then yeah i would pay $16.

does the board with the rest of the buttons look like it'll come off easily?

edit: also on the q-link board, what is the lower white plug for? looks like it should connect to something else, but i can't see where on your pic. cheers

you mean the like sections for instance, the entire q-link assembly, and then the other side with the data wheel, and transport and volume etc, you just unscrew them, take off the data cables (if you don't know how i wouldn't recommend it).

Well i got the same message about the cost of the pads but they guy told me that i had to finnd sumone to fix the new pad into the MPC.cuz the work includes some soldering.

Does anyone know where i can fix or repair the MPC 1000 in England??? :
