Right...
Well a mixer takes audio signals from different sources (MPC/Synth/etc) and mix them together into one stereo audio signal. Whereas an 8 track recorder as well as often having an internal mixer on board also allows you record sounds to each of the different tracks. If you only have a mixer and no recorder you will need to get a CD recorder or something to burn your masters to after you have finished your sequence on your MPC.
